About the REx - PN

The REX-PN (Regulatory Exam – Practical Nurse) is the new standardized licensure exam for those pursuing a career as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in Ontario and as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in British Columbia. Introduced in 2022, the REX-PN replaced the CPNRE in these two provinces and is designed to assess the entry-level knowledge, skills, and judgment needed to provide safe and effective nursing care.

It is a computerized adaptive test (CAT) — similar to the NCLEX — meaning that the difficulty of each question adapts based on the test-taker’s performance.
